He provided outstanding historical context that really helped bring the city and Ireland’s history to life, from the Viking era through independence. The tour was also a great overview and orientation to Dublin at the start of our trip, which made the rest of our stay much more enjoyable. Cathal was knowledgeable, engaging, and easy to talk to, and he gave us several excellent recommendations for the remainder of our Ireland trip. We ended up using many of his suggestions throughout our stay. Highly recommend for anyone visiting Dublin, especially at the beginning of a trip. Five stars!Posted on Becca ChoudhryTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Awesome private tour with Cathal Sheahan! Tremendous historical and contemporary knowledge of Ireland. We learned so much and had fun because Cathal is super fun and engaging. Highly recommend him for private and group tours.Posted on Michael ColucciTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cathal does an incredible job bringing Dublin to life. We spent two days with him and it was worth every Euro. Cathal has an intimate knowledge of Irish history and conveys it with wit and humor. Be prepared for song, poetry and sore feet.Posted on Pete Van BaalenTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We knew that we had a short time in Dublin, so we wanted to make the most of it. Cathal was the perfect solution. He was very accomodating to our interests, tailoring our walk around the city. His knowledge of history and pop culture was a great combination, and provided us with an entertaining day in Dublin. Oh and the entertaining - some singing, some acting and a great storyteller all a part of the package. Highly recommend Cathal if you're looking for a tour of Dublin.Posted on Tip TopTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cathal led our group of teenage Spanish students on a walking tour of Dublin last month. I cannot recommend him highly enough! He adapted the tour perfectly to suit a group of tired, not very attentive, teens! Adapting his language and the route to make everything appeal much more to them. He knows Dublin like the back of his hand, is very knowledgeable and easy going. He even got them all singing!Posted on Kathy Dufour (Katto)Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Cathal is a fantastic tour guide! He is very knowledgeable and so personable, it was a delight to your the city with him, even in the torrential rain! Cathal was very flexible in adapting the tour to us and to the weather. He made the places we visited come alive with his stories, songs and wit - we even forgot about the rain! I will definitely book another tour with him when I'm back in Dublin!Posted on viduby7Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. 3 Hour Dublin Highlights Private Walking Tour
Price: €230 (1–6 guests)
A well-paced introduction to Dublin’s most iconic sights and stories.
This three-hour walking tour is ideal for first-time visitors or anyone seeking a clear and enjoyable understanding of Dublin’s historic centre.
As we walk through the city’s streets and hidden corners, we trace Dublin’s story — from early Celtic Ireland and Viking settlements, through medieval power and centuries of British rule, to rebellion, independence and the shaping of modern Ireland.
My approach is personal and story-driven. I aim to bring history to life through storytelling, local insight and a touch of Irish humour, with plenty of time for questions along the way.
If you wish, we can include a short coffee or refreshment pause during the tour.
Possible Highlights
• Dublin Castle and the Castle Gardens
• Christ Church Cathedral and the Medieval Quarter
• Wood Quay – site of the Viking settlement
• Temple Bar and the Ha’penny Bridge
• Trinity College and College Green
Depending on timing and interest we may also visit:
• O’Connell Street and the GPO
• Merrion Square and Oscar Wilde
• The National Gallery
• The National Museum of Archaeology
4 Hour Complete Dublin Private Walking Tour
Price: €280 (1–6 guests)
A relaxed, in-depth exploration of Dublin with extra stories, hidden corners and time to explore at a comfortable pace.
This four-hour experience allows us to discover Dublin’s highlights without feeling rushed, while also exploring places and stories that shorter tours often miss.
Across four engaging hours we trace Dublin’s rich and layered story — from early Celtic Ireland and the arrival of Christianity, through Viking settlements and medieval intrigue, to rebellion, independence and the shaping of modern Ireland.
My tours are personal, flexible and story-driven. Rather than presenting history as a list of dates, I connect people and place through narrative, humour and local insight. Sometimes a line of poetry, a myth, or even a short song finds its way into the walk.
Possible Highlights
• Dublin Castle
• Christ Church Cathedral and the Medieval Quarter
• Wood Quay – the Viking settlement
• Temple Bar and the Ha’penny Bridge
• Trinity College and College Green
• Grafton Street and St Stephen’s Green
